Mr. Birungyi Cephas Kagyenda is a senior Counsel in Uganda, a highly qualified and distinguished tax expert, easily recognized as a leading tax advisor in Uganda, Africa, and internationally. Mr. Birungyi was the expert witness for the Heritage Oil and Gas Limited case which took place in London. Mr. Birungyi has previously worked for the Ugandan government in various capacities including as Deputy Commissioner of Domestic Direct Taxes in the Uganda Revenue Authority. He has represented the country in the negotiations and drafting of several double taxation agreements with over 5 countries. He is the head of the tax department of the Firm and regularly advises, consults for, and represents major local and international corporations, governments, international agencies, and financial institutions in Uganda, Africa, and all around the world. Mr. Birungyi is thoroughly trained and holds various specialist qualifications including from the UK and South Africa. Mr. Birungyi participated in the Commonwealth Advanced Management Program for senior tax officials from 29th July to 20th September 1996.
