KUGESH NAIDOO I would like to thank the board for having the confidence in nominating me for the role of chair for Regional Head – Africa 2016/2017. I envisage the Adam Global brand to be a network of choice in the African region as well as worldwide. We have the requisite skills and resources to be able to achieve this with our member network firms. I have various clients and I am associated with other accounting firms within South Africa that have clients that are looking to expand their “African” footprint. We will also be able to leverage off existing member firms within the region, we would then be able to offer clients a holistic approach to our services and be able to keep all revenues within the Adam Global family. I want the Adam Global brand to have a presence in at least each regional capital city of every country in Africa, with a view to have offices in all major regional cities in that country. I would like to identify potential partners that meet the sub minimum requirements and who would be able to uphold the Adam Global value system and culture. By partnering with these member firms, it would ensure the growth of the brand and that country in terms of foreign direct investment. With the advent of technology and companies looking for a global approach in terms of expanding products and operations, I firmly believe that Adam Global is in a position to provide a one stop global service to clients through our association with member firms. We would be able to provide complete back office support for clients wanting to expand in other countries, including compliance as well as advisory and taxation services. Membership of professional bodies South African Institute of Professional Accountants Financial Services Board Micro Finance Regulatory Council Registered Tax Practitioner with the South African Revenue Services Résumé capsule Professional accountant, Internal Auditor, Project Manager, Consultant, Member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants. Extensive experience in external auditing, internal auditing, risk management services, financial management, consulting, financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, forensic investigations, business process reengineering, project management, business analysis, forensic auditing and management audits. Experience I am a qualified Accountant registered with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants. I have been in practice for the past 25 years and presently operate a very successful partnership in Pietermaritzburg. The business has in excess of 2500 clients and is represented on a national level servicing both the public sector and private sector business. I was a member of the local committee of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants representing all SAIPA members in the Pietermaritzburg and Inland Region. I am a Compliance Officer registered with the Financial Services Board. I am also accredited to report on Micro Lending Activities to the Micro Finance Regulatory Council. I am a Registered Tax Practitioner with the South African Revenue Services. I have been actively involved in designing and implementing the Virtual Office Workplace Simulation Programme for Trainee Accountants in South Africa. I also provide financial services, business advice, Administration & Financial skills mentoring as well as consultative work including risk management to various listed Corporates. Over the last few years I have been involved in business on an international level, with the scope of work extending into Canada, Germany, Switzerland, China, India, Maputo, Botswana, Malawi, Kenya, Mozambique Mauritius, Reunion Islands and Swaziland. I am also a member of the Community Constituency and represent the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) at Executive Committee level at NEDLAC (National Economic Development & Labour Council). I also represent the Community Constituency in the following committees: • Audit & Risk Committee • Finance Committee • Human Resources & Remuneration Committee • Public Finance and Monetary Policy As a member of EXCO, I regularly meet with the Office of the Presidency and Senior Cabinet Ministers to discuss Policy Changes and Programme Implementation. I also have a close working relationship with the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Small Business, Ministry of Higher Education & Training and the Ministry of Mineral Resources. I was also the Past Regional Treasurer of SANCO in the Moses Mabidha Region. I am a Municipal Support Services Specialist and have worked closely with the Executive Management of various municipalities and government structures. My key skills include: • Project management • Local economic development • Broad Based Black economic empowerment • Control of contracts and agreements • Administrative, legislative and programme policy support • Management audit I am presently a Board member of the SANCO Development Institute and Chairperson of the Finance Committee – a Non-profit organization that has a National footprint and one of the largest Community Outreach Programmes in the Country. I also head up the Economic Development sub-committee for the institute. I am also associated with the consortium that won the latest bid to operate the National Lottery for the next 7 years. I am a director and major share-holder in the Sakilo Group of Companies, a Company that has in excess of forty two (42) subsidiary companies trading in various sectors of the economy viz: Real Estate Development, Construction and Civils, Skills Development and Training, Pharmaceuticals, Financial Services, Marketing and Direct Sales, Transport and Auto Motive, Computer Manufacturing and Telecommunications, Corporate Support Services, Freight Services, Cleaning and Management Solutions, Mining and Engineering, Social Welfare, Food and Beverage, Energy Management Solutions, Wholesale and Distribution, Aerotropolis and Technoparks, Security Services. I am presently working on the following projects: • A 2,5 Billion Rand Mixed Used Development that has a Commercial, Retail, Office Park, Residential Accommodation, Boutique Hotel, 1200 Seat Conference Facility and a Business Incubator Hub • A 700 Million Rand 5 Star Hotel Development • Africa’s first A Mega Theme Park • A 680 Million Rand Shopping Centre Extension • A 120 Million Rand Thusong Centre • Restructuring 3000 taxi operators into several co-operatives to capture various sectors of their value chain, including mergers and acquisitions of various business entities. I am a seasoned professional and in light of the above, I am well poised to lead the Adam Global Family in Africa. I have the knowledge, experience, technical skills, infrastructure and network on the African Continent and will form an integral part of the Adam Global Brand.
