Steven Vyvey

Introduction

Steven Vyvey is a Belgian Certified Auditor and Chartered Accountant with more than 15 years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, taxation, and financial consulting. Born on 30 December 1972, he is currently the Managing Partner of Vyvey & Co Auditors, a position he has held since 2003, and has served as Director of Pan European Accounting and Tax (P.E.A.T.) since 2010. In these roles, he is responsible for providing audit, accounting, financial advisory, and tax consulting services to a broad range of clients. Prior to establishing his own practice, Mr. Vyvey worked as a Senior Manager at RSM Belgium from January 1996 to May 2003, where he gained extensive experience in auditing, accounting, and financial reporting. He holds a Master’s degree in Applied Economics with a specialization in Finance and Accounting from the University of Antwerp, as well as a Master’s degree in Taxation from UAAMS. In addition, he obtained the qualifications of Certified Public Accountant in Auditing and Accounting through the Instituut der Bedrijfsrevisoren and Chartered Public Accountant through the Instituut der Accountants en Belastingconsulenten, both professional bodies affiliated with IFAC. Mr. Vyvey possesses extensive expertise in statutory audits, financial statement audits, and the certification of annual accounts under Belgian GAAP (BGAAP), IFRS, and US GAAP. He has significant experience conducting Agreed-Upon Procedures (AUP) engagements for European Commission-funded programmes, including FP7 and Marco Polo projects. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with European Union institutions and has participated in international assistance and development programmes across Western, Central, and Eastern Europe. His professional expertise extends to advising multinational groups on the establishment and implementation of international accounting structures and reporting requirements. Since 2003, he has advised Belgian companies on group accounting and has coordinated reporting activities with group auditors of multinational organizations headquartered outside Belgium. As head of Vyvey & Co Auditors, he has been responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and reporting on audit certification assignments and financial audits for both individual entities and consolidated groups. Mr. Vyvey is a member of the National Professional Federation of Fraud Auditors in Belgium (IFA) and serves as a legal expert for the courts of Antwerp. He has extensive international project experience in accounting and auditing and has delivered numerous capacity-building programmes, professional training sessions, and workshops for local, national, and international organizations. He is also recognized for his expertise in advising non-profit organizations on accounting systems, governance structures, and internal control procedures. In addition to his auditing and advisory work, Mr. Vyvey has substantial experience leading international project teams and serving as a Key Audit and Accounting Expert, Team Leader, and Project Manager. His technical skills include advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and expert-level use of Computer-Assisted Audit Tools and Techniques (CAATs), particularly CaseWare and IDEA, which he uses to support audit planning, data analysis, risk assessment, and the identification of control deficiencies. Mr. Vyvey is a native Dutch speaker and is fluent in English (C2 level), with professional working proficiency in French (B2 level) and German (B1 level). His combination of technical expertise, international experience, and leadership in audit and financial consulting makes him a highly qualified professional in the fields of accounting, auditing, and financial management.
